NHS treatments fall within three price bands. There are also criteria where patients are exempt from paying for their treatment. This is covered in the section – payment Information – of our web site.

The charge you pay depends on the treatment you need to keep your mouth, gums and teeth healthy. You will only ever be asked to pay one charge for each completed course of treatment, even if you need to visit your dentist more than once to finish it. Our procedure for NHS treatment is for you to pay the banded cost at the commencement of your treatment.
The standard price NHS bands are

If you need more treatment at the same charge level (e.g. an additional filling) within two months (8 weeks) of seeing your dentist, this will be free of charge.
There will be no charge for writing a prescription* or for removing stitches.
Dentures - repairs to dentures will be free of charge.

- Emergency dental treatment – £25.80 This covers emergency care in a primary care NHS dental practice such as pain relief or a temporary filling.
- Band 1 course of treatment – £26.80 This covers an examination, diagnosis (including X-rays), advice on how to prevent future problems, a scale and polish if clinically needed, and preventative care such as the application of fluoride varnish or fissure sealant if appropriate.
- Band 2 course of treatment - £73.50 This covers everything listed in Band 1 above, plus any further treatment such as fillings, root canal work or removal of teeth but not more complex items covered by Band 3.
- Band 3 course of treatment – £319.10 This covers everything listed in Bands 1 and 2 above, plus crowns, dentures, bridges and other laboratory work.
Treatment is FREE for:
- Children under 18
- Pregnant Women and New Mums
- Full Time Students (aged 18)
- People on a range of Benefits
